Brittney says that she gets to watch people feel better after regaining control of their sleep every day, and it’s tremendously rewarding. She’s ready to be a sympathetic ear as well as offer an actionable path forward, helping you enjoy better health, more energy, and a brighter future.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Physician Assistant?
Brittney decided to pursue medicine after losing both her brother and grandfather to cancer in 2004. During that time, she developed a deep appreciation for the balance their providers maintained—delivering compassionate care while still maintaining professional boundaries. Initially, she planned to attend medical school. However, after taking a Trends in Healthcare course during her undergraduate studies, she realized that becoming a physician assistant would allow her to spend more time focused on the patient relationship aspect of medicine. That ultimately led her to pursue a career as a PA.
Where Did You Study?
Brittney earned her Bachelor of Arts in Medical Humanities with a Biology Minor from Baylor University before going to Idaho State University, obtaining her master’s in physician assistant studies. She worked as a certified nursing assistant for six years before attending PA school, gaining firsthand experience in patient care while developing a deeper appreciation for the bedside aspect of medicine before becoming a provider.
Brittney would go on to become NCCPA certified and gain experience in several specialties, including psychiatry, internal medicine, and obesity medicine. Sleep medicine has allowed her to combine those experiences, as many sleep disorders overlap with multiple areas of health. She finds the field to be especially fulfilling because improving a patient’s sleep can have such a meaningful impact on their overall well-being.
Outside of the Office, What Do You Like to Do?
In her free time, Brittney enjoys kayaking, spending time with her dog, reading, watching movies, and attending church. She says that her 6-lb Maltese, Oaklee, definitely runs the show at home—she’s her world!
